SIGEL stands for excellence
Excellence and innovative spirit have been part of our DNA for more than 70 years. They demonstrate the way in which we consistently tailor our products to our customers’ needs and our determination to always implement the best solution – both for our products and for our employees.
Outstanding design is the trademark of our products. Their unmistakable identity is a result of our expertise in matters of style and our instinct for what makes things special. Numerous international design awards are proof of the passion and high standards with which our designers go about their work. Our products regularly impress the juries of design competitions and win internationally renowned awards such as the Red Dot Design Award, the iF Product Design Award and the German Design Award. For example:
German Innovation Award 2020
Move it, the new mobile office system for agile, flexible work, has entered the market with a second award to its name, in addition to its A’Design Award. The system has now been awarded the German Innovation Award 2020 Winner prize.
The German Innovation Award honours cross-industry products and solutions that set themselves apart from previous solutions by being user-centred and adding value. Fact: innovations that make a big impact as a small detail, thereby shaping the future, ensure successful market positioning.
A’Design Award and Competition 2020
The award-winners are our two new product groups in the interiors sector, Sound Balance and Move it.
Following its Iconic Award 2020, the Sound Balance acoustic solution is now also entitled to carry the A’Design Award Winner 2020 Gold label. The A’Design Award Winner 2020 Silver label goes to the brand new product group Move it – the mobile office system for agile, flexible work.
The prestigious A’Design Award and Competition is the world’s largest and most influential award for ground-breaking design. It is considered a source of inspiration for designers, artists and architects. For SIGEL, this top-class award is an important milestone, as the winning products represent a significant diversification of the product range, particularly for architects and interior designers.
Iconic Awards 2020 – Interior Innovation
Two innovative, new product groups from SIGEL were awarded in the "Office and Workplace" category.
Meet up, the mobile board system for agile and creative work, received the "Selection" label. The label “Winner” was even awarded for the acoustic system solution Sound Balance.
The ICONIC AWARD is an interior award that is only given to products that meet certain criteria. The SIGEL innovations convinced the internationally renowned jury according to the design-specific characteristics of design quality, ergonomics and degree of innovation, but also according to functional properties such as utility value, durability and safety.
Due to its industry-specific focus on the interior, the ICONIC AWARD 2020: Innovative Interior counts as one of the smaller design awards, but with its high international relevance it is considered a trend barometer. True to the motto "class instead of mass", 161 awards were presented this year from over 540 entries from a total of 20 countries.
Red Dot Design Award 2019
Meet up, the mobile whiteboard system, won in the “Product Design” category. The international Red Dot design competition is run by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen e.V. in Germany, which chooses the best products of the year. Designers and manufacturers from around the world submit their products and an international panel of experts rate the submissions based on criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, longevity and environmental friendliness. In 2019 the jurors received 5,500 submissions. The coveted “Red Dot” award is an internationally renowned hallmark of outstanding design quality. SIGEL presented an exceptional new product: Meet up, the versatile, mobile complete board system. Meet up can be carried or rotated and pushed around in a stand, giving its users complete freedom when it comes to teamwork and organisation.
Iconic Awards 2017 – Interior Innovation
The new Artverum products for 2017 won an award in the “Office and Workplace” category, one of a total of 9 categories.
The individual winners were the classy stone-cut designs “Black Marble” and “Green Mineral”, the fresh red boards in the practical 60 x 40 cm and 100 x 65 cm formats, along with the small, colourful C5 magnets. Since it focuses on the interiors sector, the ICONIC AWARD 2017 – INTERIOR INNOVATION is one of the smaller design awards, but one with international renown. With “Quality not quantity” as a motto, 179 prize-winners were chosen from over 400 submissions from a total of 25 countries.
The products were rated by the jury based on different criteria. On the one hand, they considered design features such as design quality, ergonomics and degree of innovation. On the other hand, they rated functional properties such as serviceability, longevity and safety. The new Artverum products for 2017 impressed the jury on all counts – another success for SIGEL and further confirmation of Artverum as a high-quality design product.
German Design Award 2017 – Special Mention and Nomination
This is the fifth time in a row that the Artverum magnetic glass boards and the Conceptum notebooks & planners have impressed the judges of the GERMAN DESIGN AWARD. These two product groups stood out among a total of 4,058 submissions in 27 categories. With just under 700 more submissions than in the previous year, the GERMAN DESIGN AWARD continues to reinforce its significance among the many international design competitions.
Artverum received a “Special Mention” in the “Office Furniture” category for its outstanding design quality. The winning products include the classy stone-cut designs “Black Marble” and “Green Mineral”, the red boards in the practical 60 x 40 cm and 100 x 65 cm formats, along with the small, colourful C5 magnets. Other awards went to the “World Map” design board in its stylish stone look, the four classy metallic boards, the round and hexagonal boards, the Artverum mirror, the berry red boards and the coloured C20 magnets.
The Conceptum notebooks & planners received the commendation of “Nominee” in the “Books & Calendars” category. Once again, this shows that these black hardcover books with the popular Softwave surface are always well-received: the commendation went to the notebook in the practical tablet format, the 18-month planner and the weekly planner with the vertical layout. The hardcover planner “Colour” collection for 2017 with its fresh colours in a classy metallic finish was another recipient of the “Nominee” commendation. The jury also commended the softcover notebooks & planners for 2017, which come with the classy Softwave surface in elegant business shades.

In other words, just participating in the German Design Award is a commendation in itself for companies and designers.”
